Really Simple Facebook Page

Here’s how you create a Facebook page that gets visitors to take the actions you want them to.

(click here or the image below for an example)

facebook page

What’s not to like about this page.

There is no need for someone to login to their Facebook account to view or more importantly take the action you ultimately want them to (if they decide to “like” the page, they will need to be logged in).

And if you are willing to spend a little money, you can drive targeting vistors to you fancy pancy Facebook page.

Let’s Dive Right In

First thing is create a Facebook page and yes you will need to be logged into your account to make this happen.

facebook page

Choose either Community Page or Official Page.

There are some advantages for using an Official Page – mainly you can have visitors arrive on the specific tab that you want them to.

Even with that said, I’m choosing Community Page for this example.

Just provide a name and click the “Create Community Page” button.

FBML

Really, it is not a four letter word.

You need to include the FBML app for this to work.

Start by clicking on the “Edit Page” link on the side.

edit facebook page

Then click on “Apps”.

In the lower right hand corner, click on the “Add App” button for the FBML app.

Then click on the “Go to App” link near the bottom left of the page.

Make It Pretty

Here’s where you get to be a little creative.

Right now you should be staring at something that looks like the following.

Consider it a blank canvas that you will bring to life.

edit fbml

OK, maybe you are not Picasso and staring at that “blank canvas” sends shivers down your spine.

Then let me give you this:

<center>
<img src=”http://maybe.s3.amazonaws.com/likearrow.jpg”><br/>
<p style=”font-family:tahoma;font-weight:bold;line-height:1.2em;font-size:24px; text-align:center;color:#000000;”>Swiss Super Affiliate Guy Shows <em>You</em> <br/> How To Create Simple Little Affiliate Blogs<br />That Generate <span style=”background-color:#FFFF00;”>$300 To $5000</span><br />Month After Month On Autopilot</p>
<br /><br />
<img src=”http://maybe.s3.amazonaws.com/getitarrow.jpg”>
<p style=”font-size:20px; margin-bottom:1.5em; margin-top:1.5em;text-align:center”><a href=”http://gowwwgo.com/go/sag”>(CLICK IMAGE BELOW TO GET YOUR INVITATION!)</a></p>
<a href=”http://gowwwgo.com/go/sag” target=”_blank”><img src=”http://maybe.s3.amazonaws.com/fb2a.jpg” alt=”Buy me” border=”0″></a>
</p>
</center>

Take that HTML code and paste it right in the FBML box and click “Save Changes”.

Of course you will want to make modifications to that code, in particular the links and headline and the big image.  You are more than welcome to use the up and down arrows I provided.

UPDATE

You can personalize your page for logged in users by adding the following (hat tip to Glen at ViperChill):

<fb:userlink uid=”loggedinuser”  linked=”false” />

You’re final code would look something like this now:

<center>
<img src=”http://maybe.s3.amazonaws.com/likearrow.jpg”><br/>
<p style=”font-family:tahoma;font-weight:bold;line-height:1.2em;font-size:24px; text-align:center;color:#000000;”><fb:userlink uid=”loggedinuser”  linked=”false” /> Swiss Super Affiliate Guy Shows <em>You</em> <br/> How To Create Simple Little Affiliate Blogs<br />That Generate <span style=”background-color:#FFFF00;”>$300 To $5000</span><br />Month After Month On Autopilot</p>
<br /><br />
<img src=”http://maybe.s3.amazonaws.com/getitarrow.jpg”>
<p style=”font-size:20px; margin-bottom:1.5em; margin-top:1.5em;text-align:center”><a href=”http://gowwwgo.com/go/sag”>(CLICK IMAGE BELOW TO GET YOUR INVITATION!)</a></p>
<a href=”http://gowwwgo.com/go/sag” target=”_blank”><img src=”http://maybe.s3.amazonaws.com/fb2a.jpg” alt=”Buy me” border=”0″></a>
</p>
</center>

Here’s a Facebook page that uses personalization (you need to be logged in).

IMPORTANT

Make sure the image you provide is no bigger than 520px wide!  Or else it will get clipped and we don’t want that.

Also, you’ll need to play around with the text – figure out how many words each line can have without getting wrapped around in unexpected ways.

And that’s about it.

Terrific Post! I am really into social media right now (like everyone else out there!), especially Facebook Marketing and FBML. It can be hard to keep up to date with such a fast changing innovative topic but I manage to do it through the fan page factory (http://facebook.com/thefanpagefactory ?) and blog posts exactly like yours. Tips and tricks rock. I am trying to learn as much as possible to put myself ahead of the curve. So thank you again!

Enjoy!

Aaron
